Shipley Mutual Aid Fund
You can support the huge community effort to support each other during the coronavirus outbreak by donating to the Shipley Mutual Aid Fund.
Your donation will support our work and that of local mutual aid groups, food banks and individuals in Shipley during this crisis.

Neighbourhood mutual aid
We are supporting neighbours to set up groups to support each other. Most neighbourhoods now have a Mutual Aid Network, where neighbours can share information, ideas and support.

We will be adding a list of neighbourhoods very soon.

If you would like to find your local network or set up one for your neighbourhood, please
email us and we will support you.

Local support
We are busy setting up a support centre at the Kirkgate Centre. Full details will be posted here very soon.

If you need help right away, please
email us or call the Bradford Council helpline 01274 431000.

Emergency Food
There are a number of local foodbanks in Shipley, Bingley, Windhill and Baildon supplying emergency food parcels to those in need.

Local foodbanks may require a
referral. The Kirkgate Centre can provide a referral for you. Please let us know by email or text on 07429 128238 giving your name, address and phone number.

We are monitoring texts and emails, and can call you back very quickly. We will do our very best to match you up with the nearest and quickest source of help and will get food to your doorstep if possible.

Please also call the council on 01274 431000 if you need support with housing or financial issues.
If you don’t have phone credit but can email, email us and we will call you back and help get you in contact with those that can help.

How to support foodbanks
Government guidance asks people to avoid:
• making unnecessary journeys
• buying more than you need from supermarkets

The best way to support local foodbanks is to donate money directly to them.
Even the smallest donation makes a difference.
Foodbanks can then buy what they need directly from suppliers at lower prices. This allows them to meet a wider range of needs and ensure parcels contain balanced meals.

Gift Aid
When you donate, please tick the Gift Aid box if you pay income tax. With Gift Aid, foodbanks can turn every £1 donated into £1.20 by claiming tax back from the Government. This gives foodbanks 20% more buying power than you!

At the time of writing, donations of £8,652 to Bradford Metropolitan Foodbank had grown by a further £1,825 just from Gift Aid!

Donating food
Donating food is still very important. If you you live in Shipley and have non-perishable food items to donate, please email us and we will arrange collection from your doorstep.

Please avoid unnecessary journeys and do not leave food outside the Kirkgate Centre.
